"Promoting a comprehensive and rights based approach to address malnutrition in Maharashtra” is a programme recently launched by the Narotam Sekhsaria Foundation. The programme is designed with series of consultations with multiple constituencies including, state and central government representatives, public health professionals, academia and civil society groups. Through this programme the Foundation aims to support a multi-centric initiative towards reducing malnutrition. The programme strives to make nutrition services accountable and responsive, through community based monitoring and planning, generation of appropriate knowledge and reshaping relevant policies and programmes.

The programme is being piloted in six districts (four rural and two urban) by a consortium of six civil society organisations (see ‘Partners’). . .

To disseminate the outcomes of research and to provide a web-based exchange and research platform for the partners, a web portal has been created. The portal is a repository and a database, of research papers, policies, and other documents such as court orders, government orders and legislation in multi-languages and of video and audio material. The portal shall be a medium through which information about this programme will be accessed and shared by the partner organisations and enable them to disseminate their work and updates on this issue. The portal is also designed to provide information on the nutritional status and nutrition programmes and initiatives in the selected districts of the state.
